Reinier de Graaf Hospital

Optimisation of maintenance results in casually high annual energy reduction

t this large hospital in the west of the country, BVO & Partners has implemented its concept on maintenance management. According to the BVO methodology, the new contract is based on performance and result-oriented effort obligations, whereby the maintenance contractor has no commercial interest in malfunctions and repairs. The contract also regulates the management and updating of all technical information files, including the technical drawings. The multi-year planning and a multi-year budget, as well as the management and execution of the legally required inspections and certificates to be maintained, are also arranged. In addition, the contract provides for the delivery and management of a legionella management plan and an energy plan. In addition to an important quality improvement, the re-tendering of the integral maintenance resulted in an annual cost reduction.

However, this was not all...
Due to good maintenance and adjustment of installations, gas consumption was more than 3% lower in the first three quarters after the implementation of the new maintenance contract, so that the costs for gas remained on budget - contrary to expectations. Electricity consumption even turned out to be more than 10% lower than expected, as a result of which the costs for electricity were 12% lower.

Annual cost reduction, more than just money
In summary, the hospital has been able to achieve a huge financial reduction on top of its maintenance costs. A very welcome addition. In addition to this financial reduction, the maintenance contractor was also able to reduce the replenishment by 40% and the optimal use of specific installations reduced CO2 emissions by 459 tons. And not only our client, but also the environment is very happy with this.
